Magnetic Susceptibility Studies and Possible Ground State Crystal Field Splitting of Two Organometallic Neptunium(IV) Complexes

چکیده
Extensive paramagnetic susceptibility studies between liquid helium and room tem perature have been carried out on polycrystalline samples of the two organometallic Np(IV)-complexes Np(C5 H 5 ) 4 and (CsHs^NpCl. From a combined interpretation of the corresponding l / y m-vs-Tand /4 ff-vs-T-curves, respectively, is suggested tha t, in accordance w ith the tetrahedral molecular sym metry to be assumed for Xp(C5 Hs)4 . a cubic r% crystal field level should lie lowest in this compound. The zero field splitting is apparentlv smaller than 5 cm-1.

Some significant features of the low-energy part of the crystal field ( = C F ) splitting pattern of the organometallic 5f2-system (^5-C5Hs)4U(IV) can be deduced from the temperature dependence of the magnetic susceptibility which has been measured on polycrystalline samples between 1.1 and 298 K. The results of model calculations performed independently on the basis of three different semi-emp...

Neptunium complexes in the formal oxidation states II, III, and IV supported by cyclopentadienyl ligands are explored, and significant differences between Np and U highlighted as a result. A series of neptunium(III) cyclopentadienyl (Cp) complexes [Np(Cp)3], its bis-acetonitrile adduct [Np(Cp)3(NCMe)2], and its KCp adduct K[Np(Cp)4] and [Np(Cp0)3] (Cp0 1⁄4 C5H4SiMe3) have been made and characte...
متن کاملNickel pivalate complexes: structural variations and magnetic susceptibility and inelastic neutron scattering studies.
The synthesis and structural characterisation of three small nickel(II) cages are reported, all stabilised by pivalate ligands. The magnetic properties of the cages have been studied by a combination of susceptibility measurements and inelastic neutron scattering. For a dinuclear cage, [Ni2(mu-OH2)(O2CCMe3)4(HO2CCMe3)4] 1 the ground state is S=2, with a ferromagnetic exchange interaction betwee...

The reaction of Cu(OAc)2 and Ln(OAc)3 (Ln = Gd, Tb and Dy) with 2-amino-2-methyl-1,3-propanediol (ampdH2) under solvothermal conditions has afforded a new family of isostructural octanuclear Cu4Ln4 complexes with the formula [Cu4Ln4(OAc)12(ampdH)8(OH2)2] (Ln = Gd (1), Tb (2) and Dy(3)) in good yield. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal weak intramolecular exchange i...

Syntheses of the bimetallic uranium(III) and neptunium(III) complexes [(UI)(2)(L)], [(NpI)(2)(L)], and [{U(BH(4))}(2)(L)] of the Schiff-base pyrrole macrocycles L are described. In the absence of single-crystal structural data, fitting of the variable-temperature solid-state magnetic data allows the prediction of polymeric structures for these compounds in the solid state.
